Fabulous. It's wings look like leather.

Pretty solid looking aren't they! There is a little speck just to the left - that's a helicopter

Umm Mike.

Do they have a lot of bats in Oz?
As someone used to the Hammer House of Horror Movies in my teens,I might have to review my wish to travel to Australia.

Hi Scots Gran - yep we do:)

This photo was taken in the Royal Botanical Gardens, and they have a section where they have planted trees that attract bats.

At certain times of the year, we also have nightly mass migrations of bats across the city. A few years ago, I spent a very romantic evening with a former girlfriend, on the balcony of a hotel watching literally thousands of bats fly from one side of the harbour to the other!

I thought that speck was a fly, and the bat was quietly awaiting its dinner....

I too have witnessed thousands of bats in flight at dusk. I found the sight pretty awesome.

Ooh those bats are really freaky. On one of our visits to Australia I remember walking through that park under those trees, and seeing thousands of eyes on us. They do seem to watch you wherever you go and I didn't hang around too long, even thought it was quite a sight to see! A few photos and I was off!

LOL - I don't blame you at all Lorna!

Brilliant pic Mike. I love bats, just as well - back in July I had one flying round my bedroom! Yes three times it came in and I managed to get a brilliant picture of it. I'd send it to you if I had your email address.

Hi Cynthia - a bat in my bedroom is something I can quite happily do without! But I would love to see the photo!!
